The sales of Southern Copper Corporation (SCC) fell by 11% year-on-year to $1.55 billion in the third quarter of 2012, partly due to lower metal prices.

SAO PAULO (Scrap Monster): The sales of Southern Copper Corporation (SCC) fell by 11% year-on-year to $1.55 billion in the third quarter of 2012, partly due to lower metal prices.

According to SCC, Copper production was up by 3% in Q3 2012 compared with last year, to a total of 160,379 tonnes.

The increase was the result of higher production at Cuajone in Peru, which increased output by 14.3% year-on-year, and the La Caridad and Buenavista mines in Mexico, where production grew by 1.6% and 2.6% respectively, as a result of higher ore grades and recoveries.
