SFA to host two-day interactive workshop at 2015 METALCON International

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Steel Framing Association (SFA) will conduct a two-day interactive workshop session at the 2015 METALCON International to be held on October 13th-14th at the Tampa Convention Centre, Tampa, Florida. The session will cover all the basics of cold-formed steel framing and the latest techniques in design and structure of mid-rise structures and its practical applications.

The sessions based on STUD U model will be held in two parts.

The first part of the session will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2015 – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This session will focus on all the basics of cold-formed steel structures. A structure in the METALCON International Exhibit Hall will be used as a blueprint to explain various construction scenarios.

The second part of the session, to be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 – 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, will build on the expertise gained from the first part of the session. It will uncover frequently overlooked items during design of cold-framed structures. Furthermore, this part of the session will also cover the latest design and construction techniques. Participants are also provided hands-on experience in constructing a mini-cold-formed steel framing project using state-of-the-art industry tools.

The program is designed specifically for architects, builders, contractors, engineers, building inspectors and building trades instructors.

Based in Washington, D.C., SFA works to expand market share in the commercial and residential construction markets with an emphasis on the growth potential of structural cold-formed steel framing in the mid-rise sector for offices, hotels, condos, apartments and other multi-family housing, university housing and similar buildings.
