LONDON (Scrap Monster): During Wednesday Evraz PLC announced that its crude steel production rates were declined, when compared to that of previous year. However it saw an increased level when compared to the previous quarter.

The company said that the increase is due to the improvement sat its South African and Russian Plant Operations. The company reported that the crude steel production dropped about 4.2 pct to 3.9 million tonnes in the second quarter, when compared to that of previous year. However, it has increased by 1.1 pct, when compare to that of previous quarter.

Evraz said that crude steel production at its Russian plant see improvement due to less downtime for the blast furnace and converters maintenance works. The increased production at its South African Steel mills is due to the major development of a furnace.

But, the company reported that crude steel production at its Ukraine and North America plant went down due to scheduled maintenance works. The pig iron production of the company has increased by 0.8 pct to about 3.2 million tonnes, when compared to that of previous year and this is due to the developed South African plant operations.

The consolidated raw coking coal output and coking coal concentrate production increased by 6.6 pct and 3 pct respectively. The company said that it is due to the developments at its Raspadskaya site in Russia.
