The recent data published by the Russian Federal State Statistical Services suggests that the total scrap exports of the country has improved from those during the previous month

Russian scrap exports fall significantly year-on-year

MOSCOW (Scrap Monster) : The recent data published by the Russian Federal State Statistical Services suggests that the total scrap exports of the country has improved from those during the previous month.

The total exports of scrap by Russia during February were 217,000 tons. The total exports are up by 8.6% month-on-month. However the scrap exports during the month has fallen by a whopping 42.9% when compared to the exports during February last year.

Turkey was the main export destination of Russian scrap. Around 60% of the total exports were to Turkey. Turkey imported 125,000 tons of scrap from Russia. The scrap exports to Turkey dropped by 25% year-on-year. Korea was the next main importer with a total import of 43,000 tons. The exports to Korea have plunged by nearly 60% when compared to same month a year ago.

The cumulative scrap exports during the first two months of the year were 417,000 tons. This is 39.2% lower in comparison to the exports during same period the previous year.

The total scrap exports to Turkey during the first two months were 215,000. The total exports to Turkey declined by 32.6% year-on-year. Korea imported 74,000 tons of scrap from Russia. The Korean imports fell by 57.6% year-on-year. The exports to Spain declined by 32.5% to 38,000 tons during the two months time when compared to same period in 2012.
