Rubber Mulch, an eco-friendly playground flooring material

LAKEWOOD, NEW JERSEY (Scrap Monster): Rubber mulch has emerged an extremely eco-friendly playing material, made out of recycled rubber tires, according to Rubberecycle, a major manufacturer of rubber mulch.

The company’s Playsafer rubber much has been endorsed by Michelle Obama and featured in the White House Playground.

Play safer rubber mulch is made entirely from recycled tires, and factories are located near the location of the tires so that less fuel is used during transportation. The Rubberecycle company has now taken the initiative and installed solar panels in their plant so that while working, eco-friendly solar power is used to generate power for the multitudes of machinery that is needed.

The 1.1 megawatt solar energy system covers 200,000 square feet of the roof, and cost Rubberecycle an estimated $3,800,000. With this move, thousands of gallons of fuel are saved, and pollution prevented.

Rubberecycle introduced top quality rubber surfacing products to the commercial, residential and military markets in 1998. Their playground mulch conforms to all CPSC, ASTM, and IPEMA (The International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association) safety guidelines and is ADA approved.

The pioneer in the tire recycling industry, Rubberecycle utilizes the most advanced technology and equipment to recycle tires on site. The resulting playground surfacing is low maintenance, safe for children and comes with a lifetime warranty and is a fantastic "Green Solution" for the safety of our children.
