SOUTH WALES, UK (Scrap Monster): Recresco, specialist in glass recycling has opened its new plant in South Wales. The new plant is expected to boost the glass recycling prospects in the region.
The company’s new facility will use the latest glass sorting technology to process 10 tonnes of glass collected from the surrounding area every hour. The company says that the new facility will help meet the demand for new glass recycling infrastructure that has been brought about by increasing recycling rates in South Wales.
Recresco sorts it by colour, a significant percentage of recycled glass is used for other purposes such as producing aggregate for building roads. It provides a local glass recycling base for local councils and household waste sites, as well as private companies who provide bottle bank glass collections and kerbside recycling collections.
Currently the site is operating at 50% capacity, with full capacity expected by the end of the year, waste-management-world.com reported.
