Recleim Announces Acquisition of Pennsylvania Recycling Facility

SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): Recleim LLC (Recleim), based in Atlanta, Ga., today announced it has entered into an asset purchase agreement with ARCA Advanced Processing (AAP) for the purchase of an appliance recycling facility located at 4301 N. Delaware Avenue in Philadelphia, Pa. The strategic acquisition extends Recleim’s reach to the Northeast and builds on its recent purchase of Nova Services, Inc. assets in Dundalk, Md.

The acquisition gives Recleim de-manufacturing capability in Pennsylvania. De-manufacturing is distinct from recycling because it involves recovering more materials from appliances, HVAC systems and vending machines, benefitting the environment.

“By adding processing capability in an area that we already service, we can reduce the number of miles that we have to transport items,” said Steve Bush, chief executive officer of Recleim. “This enables us to reduce our overall carbon footprint while extending industry-leading de-manufacturing services to even more customers along the East Coast.”

The Philadelphia plant is one of only three plants in the country that can capture and process ozone-depleting substances and greenhouse gases that are found in the foam lining of expired appliances.

“The Recleim team looks forward to expanding relationships in Pennsylvania and beyond to advance our mission of handling and destroying end-of-life appliances and other items in an environmentally-friendly manner,” Bush added.

The asset sale was completed on August 15th and operation of the plant will resume immediately.
