Pratt Industries unwraps new MRF in Columbus

GROVE CITY (Scrap Monster): Conyers, GA-based sustainable packaging and display solutions provider-Pratt Industries has officially opened a new material recovery facility, replacing the smaller plant in Columbus. The 54,000 square-foot facility also includes a 10,000-square-foot Sustainability Center with interactive tools to educate adults and school children about the benefits of recycling.

According to company sources, the new MRF will be capable of processing 200 tons per day of single-stream recyclables, including 150 tons of paper and old corrugated containers. The new plant will process all types of residential and commercial single-stream material, including all grades of paper, cardboard, aluminum, steel and plastic. In addition, it can handle recyclables from industrial and retail businesses.

The MRF accepts single-stream recyclables and sort them using state-of-the-art equipment. The new facility will support curbside recycling for south west Georgia and communities in Alabama. The new MRF is expected to improve the recycling capacity of the entire region.

Pratt Industries is America’s 5th largest corrugated packaging company and the world’s largest, privately-held 100% recycled paper and packaging company.
