Pratt Industries opens new recycling facility in South Carolina

COLUMBIA (Scrap Monster): Conyers, Georgia-based recycled paper and packaging company-Pratt Industries has officially opened its latest recycling facility in Rock Hill, South Carolina. This is the company’s third recycling facility in South Carolina and the 15^th in the entire US. The newly opened facility is intended to serve the recycling needs of businesses, cities and counties within 100-mile radius.

The 72,000-square-foot building will accept both residential and commercial recyclables including paper, plastics and metals. The paper collected and processed at the mill will be shipped to Pratt’s recycled board mill in Conyers and used as fiber. The new facility is expected to handle around 100 tons of recovered fiber and a total of 150 tons of recyclables per day. In addition, the facility will handle metals and plastics.

The opening ceremony was attended by more than 125 people including distinguished local leaders, businessmen and recycling professionals. According to Myles Cohen, President, Pratt Recycling, the new plant capable of accepting both residential and commercial recyclables will be a tremendous benefit to not only Rock Hill citiozens but also to nearby communities. It could save fuel and reduce carbon emissions by taking trucks off the road.
