Plaxx Named the Best Recycled Plastic Product of the Year

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The fifteen winners of the 2017 Plastics Industry Awards (PIA) were announced Friday 27th October during the event organized at the London Hilton on Park Lane. The ‘Best Recycled Plastic Product of the Year’ Award was won by Recycling Technologies for its Plaxx- the first hydrocarbon feedstock derived from residual waste plastic. The other finalists in this award category were Axion Polymers & 1env Solutions, Fishy Filaments, HAHN Plastics and Marmax Recycled Products.

The award, sponsored by RECycling of Used Plastics Limited (RECOUP), aims to raise awareness and showcase the latest product innovations and designs for recycled plastics. Further, the award recognises the progression in the applications of recycled plastics, and presents a real opportunity for the industry to demonstrate their commitment to the environment. Also, entries to the prestigious award help to create a positive understanding of recycling plastics and their applications.

Plaxx is synthetic oil with multiple industrial applications. It is a hydrocarbon product produced from end-of-life plastic waste. Recycling Technologies uses a patented process which chemically recycles residual plastic waste, removes contaminants and additives to distil it into Plaxx products. These products comprise of waxes, base oils and naphtha. The goal of the products is to contribute to the Circular Economy and help boost recycling rates in the entire plastic waste stream. The Plaxx spectrum of products is available in four different specifications-Plaxx-8, Plaxx-16, Plaxx-30 and Plaxx-50.

Matt Barber, sales and events director at Crain Communications, which organizes the PIAs congratulated the winners, saying that all the winners have made big contributions in driving the buoyant and innovative UK plastics industry forward.

Launched in 2001, this was the 17th year of Plastics Industry Awards. The PIA recognizes the best companies and the best individuals from plastics industry for their innovation and exceptional performance. The entries are open to the UK and Ireland. It must be noted that the winner of the 2016 PIA was Counterplas for their product Loft Stilt, made from 100% recycled polypropylene, which helps to raise storage area inside a loft.
