Pakistan's scrap imports soared 38% in April

KARACHI (Scrap Monster): The most recent statistics released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS) indicates that the country’s scrap imports increased significantly during the month of April this year.

The scrap imports by Pakistan during the month totaled around 225,628 tons. The imports soared higher by 38% when matched with the previous month. The country had imported 163,498 tons of scrap during March this year.

As per PFBS, the scrap imports generated total revenue of $95.4 million. The revenues were up 44.65% from the corresponding month a year ago. Scrap imports had generated $65.95 million in revenue during April 2014.

Meantime, the country’s steel imports totaled 264,382 tons during April, rising by nearly 40% over the previous year.
