CANBERRA (Scrap Monster): According to latest data published by World Steel Association, the crude steel production by Oceania region declined slightly by 1.6% during the month of July ’15 year-on-year. The total output by the region dropped from 514,000 tonnes in July last year to 505,000 tonnes during July ’15.
The total crude steel production by Australia during July this year was 442,000 tonnes, marginally higher by 1.3% when compared with the production of 436,000 tonnes during same month a year ago. New Zealand produced 63,000 tonnes of crude steel, considerably down by 18% when compared with the production of 77,000 tonnes achieved during July last year.
The total crude steel production by Australia during June this year was 408,000 tonnes, significantly higher by 7.1% when compared with the production of 381,000 tonnes during same month a year ago. New Zealand produced 75,000 tonnes of crude steel, marginally higher by 1.1% when compared with the production of 74,000 tonnes achieved during June last year.
However, the crude steel output by Oceania region was up 4.5% during the initial seven-month period of the year. The output totaled 3.336 million tonnes, when matched with the output of 3.192 million tonnes during the corresponding seven-month period in 2014.
