North American Aluminum new mill orders surged 11.9% in October

The statistics released by the Aluminum Association indicates that the new mill orders for the month of October 2013 has increased by 11.9%

North American Aluminum new mill orders surged 11.9% in October

WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster) :  The statistics released by the Aluminum Association indicates that the new mill orders for the month of October 2013 has increased by 11.9% over the previous month.

The year-to-date new mill orders index is down 3.5%.

New orders for plates were down in October when compared with September. The October plate orders plunged 13.6% from September. There was 10.4% decline October plate orders year-on-year.

New orders for Sheets, extruded products, foils, domestic can and export can stock were up in October when compared with the previous month.

The sheet orders during the month of October climbed higher by 16.7% from September 2013. Also, there was 5.8% rise in October sheet orders year-on-year.

The orders of extruded products jumped 11.3% in October when compared with the previous month. Also, extruded products orders were up by 10% when compared with October 2012 orders.

October orders of foil surged 30.5% compared with the previous month and were up 16.7% from a year earlier.

The September orders of domestic can stock were up by 15% from previous month. However, the orders during October were also down by 10.3% over the previous year.

On the other hand, the orders of export can stock fell 15.2% month-on-month in October.
