New facility to add to Lynchburg's recycling capacity

NEW YORK (Scrap Monster) :  Lynchburg has added to its recycling capacity with the opening of Pure Earth Recycling Technologies- a new recycling technology that opened recently at 2530 Fairview Ave.. The facility owned by Mike Mongelli and Lezlie Kozera employs eight people currently and proposes to grow bigger during the coming years.

The new facility is said to participate in curbside recycling. Lynchburg currently has nine sites where residents can deposit their recyclables. The trash from these sites is diverted to Livestock Road Landfill, operated by Region 2000 Services Authority. In 2013, the landfill received 13,938 fewer tons of glass, yard waste, wood, plastic and paper. This clearly is an indication that Lynchburg residents have recycled more in 2013. The addition of the new recycling facility is likely to boost the recyclables collection in the area.

Pure Earth Recycling Technologies accepts scrap metal, glass, cardboard, Styrofoam, mixed paper, wood and seven different types of plastic. The company plans to resupply cardboards to local mills. The recyclables which are in low demand domestically will be exported to Asian countries like India and China.

In future, it plans to expand itself so as to accept e-waste including discarded computers and other electronic items.
