Neighbours of east-end scrap fire told to shut windows

Residents living in the area of an industrial fire near the QEW and Burlington Street East are being asked by emergency authorities to keep their windows closed until the fire has been extinguished.

Hamilton(Scrap Monster) : Residents living in the area of an industrial fire near the QEW and Burlington Street East are being asked by emergency authorities to keep their windows closed until the fire has been extinguished.

Hamilton firefighters are tackling a fire in a scrap pile of car parts at American Iron and Metal at 75 Windermere Rd., just west of Burlington Street East.

Firefighters were called to the rubbish fire at about 3 p.m. Seven units have been dispatched to the scene.

The Hamilton Fire Department says it is a metal fire and it is sending smoke into the air.

Hamilton police are also on scene, assisting with traffic.
