Middle East crude steel output surged higher by 6% in Dec '14

ABU DHABI (Scrap Monster): According to most recent data published by the World Steel Association (World Steel), the crude steel production by the Middle East region increased by 5.8% during the month of Dec ‘14 year-on-year.

The total crude steel production by Iran during December was 1.362 Million tonnes, increasing by 0.9% in comparison with the December 2013 production of 1.350 Million tonnes. Qatar produced 270,000 tonnes of crude steel, higher by 66.7% when compared to 162,000 tonnes production achieved during December 2013. Meantime, Saudi Arabia’s crude steel output surged over the year to 547,000 tonnes during December last year. The total crude steel production by the UAE during December was 214,000 tonnes, down by 11.0% in comparison with the December 2013 production of 240,000 tonnes.

The total crude steel production by Iran during November was 1.459 Million tonnes, increasing by 6.1% in comparison with the November 2013 production of 1.375 Million tonnes. Qatar produced 242,000 tonnes of crude steel, higher by 49.4% when compared to 162,000 tonnes production achieved during November 2013. Meantime, Saudi Arabia’s crude steel output surged over the year to 538,000 tonnes during November last year. The total crude steel production by the UAE during November was 237,000 tonnes, down by 4.7% in comparison with the November 2013 production of 249,000 tonnes.
