Man Accused of Stealing, Selling Scrap Metal From Former Employer

ALBANY (Scrap Monster): A Livingston County man was arrested for felony burglary after deputies said he stole scrap metal from his former employer and sold it for money.

Deputies said after he was fired from Superior Walls, Shawn Wheeler, 26, of Groveland went back and stole several pieces of rebar steel. They said he took it to a scrap metal recycling business and sold it for scrap weight. Deputies said Wheeler had his two younger children with him while he stole the metal.

Wheeler was charged with felony burglary, petit larceny and endangering the welfare of child. He was arraigned in Lima Town Court and is in Livingston County Jail on $2,500 cash bail.
