Lumber output by Canadian mills declined in Nov ‘15

VANCOUVER (Scrap Monster): The lumber output by Canadian sawmills dropped slightly in Nov ’15, in comparison with the previous month. However, lumber production during the month was significantly higher when compared with November 2014.

According to latest data released by Statistics Canada, the lumber production by Canadian mills totaled 5,584.7 thousand cubic metres during November last year. This is marginally lower by 1.7% when compared with the production during the month before. The Canadian sawmills had produced 5,681.3 thousand cubic metres of lumber during Oct ’15. When compared with November 2014, the lumber production rose significantly by 15.5% during Nov ’15. The lumber production had totaled 4,835.2 thousand cubic metres during November 2014.

The lumber shipments by Canadian sawmills totaled 5,474.2 thousand cubic metres in Nov ’15, significantly down by 6.8% from the month before. However, shipments surged higher by over 16% when matched with November 2014.
