LME Copper prices rise slightly

LONDON (Scrap Monster): London Metal Exchange (LME) base metal prices gain on Friday after the losses in the previous session. Tin is the only metal showed a negative trend in LME.

LME Copper peeked above four-month lows on Friday on short-covering and signs that Greeks are warming to pro-austerity parties, allaying some fears the country could leave the Euro zone.

Still, worries about Spain's finances and reports of Chinese copper inflows onto the London Metal Exchange (LME) will likely cap gains in the session.

LME Price Highlights:

--Aluminium alloy advanced 0.95% to $1900 a metric ton

--Aluminium advanced 1.48% to $2016 per metric ton

--Copper gained 1.14% to $7795 a metric ton

--Lead gained 0.98% to $1948 per metric ton

--Nickel advanced 1.18% to $17100 a metric ton

--Tin dipped 0.35% to $19375 per metric ton

--Zinc gained 1.96% to $1920 a metric ton

--Steel remain unchanged at $429 per metric ton

The LME metal prices in US $ per metric tonne as on May 18, 2011. The figures in brackets refer to prices that prevailed on the previous day.
