BRASILIA (Scrap Monster): Latin America's apparent consumption of finished steel products in the first half of this year amounted to 34.35 million tons, rose by 12% year-on-year, as per the latest statistics released by the Latin American Iron and Steel Institute (ILAFA).
According to statistics, in the given period of time, Latin America's production of finished steel products totaled 34 million tons. Among them, 15.50 million tons were produced by Brazil; 9.7 million tons were by Mexico and 3 million tons were by Argentina.
In the first half of this year, Latin America's exports of finished steel products totaled 3.97 million tons while the imports of finished steel products were at 10.08 million tons.
Meanwhile, Latin America's crude steel output in the first half of this year totaled 39.60 million tons, down by 1% year-on-year.
