TOKYO (Scrap Monster): According to recent data released by the Japan Iron & Steel Federation (JISF), the country’s wire rod exports climbed higher during the month of September this year. However, average export prices dropped over the previous month.
The country exported 68,196 tons of wire rods during the month, 11.1% higher when compared with the exports during the previous month. Japan had exported 61,382 tons during August this year. The export prices averaged at $765.30 per ton, dropping by 2.1% from a month ago. The wire rods export prices had averaged at $781.70 per ton during the previous month.
The largest export destination of Japanese wire rods was China. The country’s wire rods export to China totaled 20,144 tons, accounting for nearly one-third of the total exports during the month. The exports to China were down 10.5% when matched with the previous month.
The second largest importer of Japanese wire rods was the US. The country’s wire rods shipment to the US totaled 12,590 tons, surging higher by 31.1% when compared with a month ago.
