Japanese scrap exports rise in July: Finance Ministry

TOKYO (Scrap Monster): Japan's ferrous scrap exports reached 347,758 metric tons in July this year, advanced slightly by 1.12% month-on-month and rose 93% year-on-year, as the country's scrap exports started to recover following the earthquake and tsunami which hit Japan on March 11, 2011, according to the latest statistics released by Japan's Ministry of Finance.

In July this year, Japanese scrap exports to South Korea totaled 347,758 metric tons, while exports to China amounted to 270,603 mt, decreased by 21.37% and up 19% respectively, both compared to June.

Meanwhile, in the first seven months of this year, Japan's scrap exports amounted to 4.82 million mt , advanced by 72% year-on-year.
