Japanese H2 scrap base prices drop in Tokyo Bay region

TOKYO (Scrap Monster): The base price of Japanese H2 scrap has declined in the Japanese Tokyo Bay region. According to sources, the Japanese H2 scrap base price in the region fell by ï¿¥500/ton to average at ¥ 25,500/ton to ¥ 26,000/ton FAS as of Friday, 23rd January, 2014.

The base prices of P&S scraps averaged at ¥ 28,500/ton to ¥ 29,000/ton in the region. Meantime, Shindachi scrap average base prices were in the range ¥27,500~28,000/ton in Tokyo Bay region.

Meantime, Tokyo Steel announced a cut of ï¿¥500/ton in scrap purchasing prices at Tahara works. The new prices are with effect from Jan 24th, 2015. This is the fourth consecutive reduction in scrap purchasing prices in the past fe weeks.

The average scrap purchasing prices dropped to ¥ 23,500/ton to ¥ 26,500/ton.

Post cut, the scrap purchasing prices at Utsunomiya works in northern Kanto have now averaged to ¥ 26,500/ton. The purchasing price of H2 scrap in Okayama works in Western Japan now stands at ¥ 24,000/ton and those in Kyushu at ¥ 24,000/ton.

Also, Tokyo Steel’s scrap purchasing prices in Tahara works in Central Japan are at ¥ 25,500/ton, while those in Takamatsu steel center on Shikoku Island are at ¥ 23,500/ton.
