Indonesia's scrap imports declined sharply by 43.3% year-on-year to 143,000 tons in July this year and decreased by 16.4% month-on-month, according to official statistics.
JAKARTA (Scrap Monster): Indonesia's scrap imports declined sharply by 43.3% year-on-year to 143,000 tons in July this year and decreased by 16.4% month-on-month, according to official statistics.
In July, the US was the largest scrap exporter to Indonesia with 34,000 tons, rose by 65.5%; Australia was the second largest one with 30,000 tons, fell by 13.8%; Singapore was the third largest one with 18,000 tons, increased by 18.2%, all compared to the same period of a year ago.
In the first seven months of this year, Indonesia’s scrap imports amounted to 983,000 tons, decreased by 21.7% year-on-year.
In the given period of time, Australia was the largest scrap supplier with 178,000 tons, surged by 133.7%; the US was the second largest one with 151,000 tons, fell by 7.1%; Singapore was the third largest one with 105,000 tons, increased by 18.4%, all compared to the same period of 2011.
