Illinois has made up plans for a statewide launch of recycling and reuse strategies to create more green jobs in the state
ILLINOIS (Scrap Monster): Illinois has made up plans for a statewide launch of recycling and reuse strategies to create more green jobs in the state.
The initiative is expected to promote sustainability efforts by the state.
The initiative is developed by national and state leaders in sustainability. The effort is to decrease the amount of waste ending up in landfills and incinerators, and support the development of more sustainable approaches to managing resources, according to the Illinois Recycling Association.
The Illinois Recycling Association will announce the initiatives during the annual Illinois Recycling and Waste Management Conference and Trade Show on June 6-8 at the Hilton Hotel in Springfield.
In Illinois, recycling reliant and reuse industries contribute a total of 111,500 jobs -- a payroll of $3.6 billion -- and more than $1 billion in state and local taxes, according to the Illinois Recycling Association.
