Global steel production remained flat during Nov '14

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): According to the most recent statistics published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by 65 member countries was 130.525 million tonnes (Mt) in November this year, remaining flat upon comparison with the production during same month the previous year.

The total crude steel production by EU-28 countries during November this year was 14.256 Million tonnes (Mt), marginally lower by 0.8% when matched with the November 2013 production of 14.375 Mt. Other European countries produced 2.985 Million tonnes of crude steel, down 8.0% when compared to 3.245 Million tonnes production achieved during November 2013. The CIS countries’ crude steel production dropped by 3.9% from 8.647 Mt to 8.308 Mt. The total crude steel production by North America was up by 2.4% from 9.961 Mt in November 2013 to 9.727 Mt in November this year.

The total crude steel production by South American region during November this year increased by 2.7% to 3.754 Mt. African countries produced 1.215 Million tonnes of crude steel, 13.2% down when compared to 1.400 Million tonnes production achieved during November 2013. The total crude steel production by the Middle East countries during November this year was 2.476 Million tonnes(Mt), higher by 11.6% when compared with the November 2013 output of 2.219 Mt. The Asian countries’ crude steel production too increased marginally by 0.6% from 86.695 Mt to 87.181 Mt. The total crude steel production by Oceania region plunged 14.8% from 0.457 Mt in November 2013 to 0.390 Mt in November this year.

The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first eleven months in 2014 in comparison with those during same period in 2013.
