Finland’s paper output contracted 2.6% in 2015; pulp production rises 1.7%

According to FFIF press release, Finland’s paper production totaled 7.3 million tonnes in 2015, lower by 2.6% when compared with the previous year.

Finland’s paper output contracted 2.6% in 2015; pulp production rises 1.7%

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): The latest statistics published by the Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF) suggests marginal drop in paper production during 2015. On the other hand, pulp production grew slightly during the year. Combined, paper and pulp industry production reported marginal growth of 0.2% in 2015.

According to FFIF press release, Finland’s paper production totaled 7.3 million tonnes in 2015, lower by 2.6% when compared with the previous year. Meantime, pulp production was up by 1.7% during the year to total 7.1 million tonnes. Also, paperboard production totaled 3.1 million tonnes, comparatively higher by 3.6% when matched with the previous year.

During Q4 2015, the paper production totaled 1.8 million tonnes. This is 2.3% lower when compared with the production during the same quarter a year before. Pulp production rose 4% during the final quarter of the previous year to 1.9 million tonnes. Meantime, paperboard production grew considerably by nearly 6.6% over the year to 810,000 tonnes during Q4 last year.

Meantime, Finland’s softwood sawn timber output during 2015 dropped by 2.7% when matched with 2014. The production for the whole year totaled around 10.6 million cubic metres in 2015. Also, production during the last quarter of 2015 has declined marginally by 0.5% to 2.7 million cubic metres.
