European stainless steel makers hike Jan '15 alloy surcharge

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): Major stainless steel producers in Europe have announced hike in stainless steel surcharge for the month of January next year. Those who announced rise in surcharges include major producers such as Aperam and Acciai Speciali Terni. According to them, the alloy surcharges for austenitic grades of stainless steel flat rolled products for the month of January will be hiked.

Aperam has decided to raise alloy surcharges for 304 grade flat products by over 5% when compared with those during the month of December this year. The surcharges will be hiked from €1,220/ton by €67/ton to total €1,287/ton during Jan ’15. Similarly, the company has decided to hike its alloy surcharge on 316 grade flat products by €72/ton. The Jan ’15 alloy surcharges will now be at €1,854/ton.

Also, Acciai Speciali Terni has declared hike in alloy surcharges for 304 grade flat products by €84/ton. Terrni’s surcharge for Jan ’15 will be around €1,325/ton. The company has also decided to raise alloy surcharges for 316 grade flat products by nearly 5% when compared with those during the month of December this year. The surcharges will be hiked from €1,839/ton by €86/ton to total €1,925/ton during Jan ’15.

Other stainless steel makers in the country including Acerinox, ThyssenKrupp and Outokumpu are expected to follow suit.
