EU Scrap imports fall 14.7% y-o-y in July

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): Scrap imports by the 27-countries in the European Union reached 287,000 tons in July this year, declined by 14.7% year-on-year, according to statistics.

In August, the 27 countries' scrap exports totaled 1.477 million tons, up by 0.4% year-on-year.

In the first seven months of this year, the EU 27-countries imported 2.104 million tons of scraps. At the same time, the scrap exported from the EU 27-countries amounted to 11.802 million tons, rose by 10.7% year-on-year.

In the given period of time, Turkey was the largest importer of the EU scrap with 6.412 million tons, rose by 10.3%; India was the second largest one with 1.654 million tons, surged by 53.9% and Egypt was the third largest one with 995,000 tons, increased by 19.3%, all on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, Russia was the largest scrap exporter to the EU with 637,000 tons in the first seven months of this year, rose by 9.6% year-on-year.
