ERI’s Washington facility earns prestigious AAA certification by NAID

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Fresno, California headquartered ERI has announced that its Sumner, Washington facility has obtained AAA certification from the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID). This is the sixth company location to receive the prestigious certification. The company aims to have all its eight locations certified before the end of first quarter this year. It must be noted that ERI’s California, Colorado, Indiana, Massachusetts and Texas locations had been certified earlier by NAID.

John S. Shegerian, chairman and CEO of ERI noted that the company is proud to have received the certification for its facility in the great state of Washington. The recognition is a testimony of the efforts undertaken by ERI to meet the strictest standards of environmental and operational excellence. Further, the certification from NAID reconfirms the company’s ongoing commitment to safe data destruction and the highest industry standards practiced by the company facilities with regards to ensuring data security of wide variety of devices including computers, laptops, cell phones and other electronics devices handled by it. Shegerian hoped that the remaining two locations that are currently undergoing NAID certification procedures would also get certified before the end of Q1 2017.

Meantime, NAID CEO Bob Johnson stated that ERI has turned out to become an industry role model by developing it to be the largest organization in the IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) Services space to have achieved AAA certification. ERI has once again demonstrated their strong commitment to ensure full security for customers’ private information. The award of certification follows rigorous scheduled and unannounced audits at plants and thorough evaluation of written company policies, Johnson noted. ERI’s clients can now be assured that the company is operating in top compliance with industry regulations.

ERI had recently joined the Stop. Think. Connect campaign led by the Department of Homeland Security, the National Cyber Security Alliance and the Anti-Phishing Work Group, aimed at fighting cyber crime by encouraging stronger security measures among the public. Although the campaign was meant to cover all facets of cyber security, it mainly dealt with educating customers on staying safe while using a device. As part of the campaign, the company had also provided a list of tips to other companies to ensure that best data-destruction practices are in place across their facilities. The award of esteemed NAID certification is expected to further enhance the company’s reputation.

As part of expanding its portfolio beyond electronics recycling, Electronics Recyclers International had recently rebranded itself into ERI.
