ERI Texas facility earns top industry certification

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Fresno, California headquartered ERI has announced that its Texas facility has obtained AAA certification from the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID). This is the fifth location to get certified. The company aims to have all its eight locations certified by January 2017, which will enable it to enter a new phase of growth. It must be noted that the company’s California, Colorado, Indiana and Massachusetts locations have already received NAID AAA certifications.

John S. Shegerian, chairman and CEO of ERI noted that the company is proud to have received the certification for its facility in the great state of Texas. The certification confirms the highest standards of environmental and operational excellence followed in the facility. It further reiterates the company’s commitment to safe data destruction, he added. The current technological innovations make proper destruction of data a crucially important issue. The NAID certification underscores the important role played by ERI in ensuring data security of wide variety of devices including computers, laptops, cell phones and other electronics devices handled by it.

According to Shegerian, other ERI locations too are currently undergoing NAID certification procedures. He hoped that the remaining three facilities also would become NAID certified before the first month next year. This would be the third certification system to be achieved by ERI facilities after R2 and e-Stewards.

Meantime, NAID CEO Bob Johnson stated that ERI has set an example for the industry. He noted that ERI is the largest organization in the IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) Services space to have achieved AAA certification. By choosing ERI, customers are ensured that they fulfill their compliance obligation in selecting responsible service provider, Johnson added. Further, he appreciated ERI’s efforts in upholding secure and top quality data destruction procedures at the facility.

As part of expanding its portfolio beyond electronics recycling, Electronics Recyclers International had recently rebranded itself into ERI. The company had announced expansion of its services to include more services such as recommerce, recovery, reporting and regulatory guidelines. It must be noted that the company had not been confined to recycling services over the past few years. Instead, it had expanded itself into a company offering multiple services. While announcing the name change, the company had noted that it has achieved tremendous growth in capabilities during the past several years. As a leader in secure data destruction, the award of NAID certification is expected to further enhance the company’s reputation.
