ERI offers electronics recycling mail back program in Los Angeles

ERI offers electronics recycling mail back program in Los Angeles

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Fresno, California-based ERI has partnered with LA Sanitation, City of Los Angeles to launch Los Angele’s first electronics recycling mail back program. The program offers residents yet another option to recycle their old electronics apart from dropping the same in free drop-off locations. The program allows residents to mail back discarded electronics directly to ERI for a fee.

According to ERI, specially designed boxes in multiple sizes are made available online at lasan.eridirect.com. There are three categories of boxes-small one of size 9" x 5" x 3" which can hold up to 6 lbs, medium sized-box of size 18" x 14" x 4" capable to hold maximum of 15 lbs and a large box of 20" x 20" x 20" size with maximum capacity of 70 lbs. The flat rate of these boxes is $30, $65 and $90 respectively. The prices of electronics recycling boxes are inclusive of delivery to desired location, return shipping to nearest ERI facility, environmental certifications, NAID certified secure data destruction services and a certificate of recycling.

John Shegerian, chairman and CEO of ERI noted that it is a tremendous honor and privilege to be partnering with the great city of Los Angeles in providing responsible, effective ways of recycling its electronic waste. The program will help LA residents to responsibly recycle their e-waste and keep toxic electronics out of landfills, Shegerian added. Meantime, LA Sanitation Executive Director and General Manager Enrique C. Zaldivar stated that the City has moved one step forward in living up to its mission of protecting public health and environment by offering more recycling options. The customers can now choose between having recycling box at their doorsteps or visiting one of the S.A.F.E. Center locations to drop off their unused electronics, he added.

The accepted items include Adapters, Cables/Power Cords, Cell Phones, Desktops, Digital Cards, DVD/CD/VCR Players, Expansion Cards, Gaming Systems, Hard Drives, Keyboards, Memory, Modems, Multi-Function Devices, Networking/Telecom Equipment, Printers, Processors, Routers, Servers, Smart Phones, Solid State Drives, Stereos, Tablets, Wireless Cards, Cable Boxes, Calculators, Copiers, Digital Cameras, Digital Clock, DVRs, Fax/GPS Machines, Home Phones, Laptops, Notebooks, Mice, Monitors, Navigational Devices, Office Phones, Phone Systems, Power Supplies, Remote Controllers, Scanners, Shredders, Smart Watches, Speakers, Televisions, Switches and Wires.

The items not accepted include Aerosol Cans, Hazardous Materials, Light Bulbs, Medical Waste, Non-electronic material, Personal Hygiene Products, Loose Batteries, Lava Lamps, Liquid Chemicals, Mercury Containing Devices, Paint, Smoke Detectors and Trash.

The permanent collection sites throughout the City known as S.A.F.E. Centers (Solvents/Automotive/Flammables/Electronics) will continue to operate as usual. Incidentally, the city has seven S.A.F.E. Centers for residents located at Northridge, San Pedro, Northeast Los Angeles, Playa Del Ray, Sun Valley, West Los Angeles and East Los Angeles. In addition, the S.A.F.E. Centers at San Pedro, East Los Angeles, Playa del Rey and Sun Valley also accepts waste from businesses.
