Entries Open For First-Ever Plastics Recycling Awards Europe

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The trade association representing European plastics recyclers-Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE) and Crain Communications have announced that application window for the first ever Plastics Recycling Awards Europe 2018 is now open. The awards are open to individuals and organizations that deal with recycling of plastic materials across the Europe. The deadline for submission of applications is December 22^nd this year. The finalists will be announced during March 2018. The final winners will be announced on April 25^th, 2018 during the Plastics Recycling Show Europe at RAI Amsterdam.

According to Ton Emans, President, PRE, the awards are an effort to highlight the real value of recyclates and their crucial role within the Circular Economy model. The award entries are expected to demonstrate innovative applications using plastics recyclates. Furthermore, the awards are also expected to highlight the substantial progress in recycling technologies all over the European region.

The Plastics Recycling Awards Europe 2018 will be presented in five different categories- Recycled Plastic Consumer Lifestyle Product, Technology Innovation in Plastics Recycling, Recycled Plastic Packaging Product, Plastics Recycling Ambassador and Building & Construction Product Made from Recycled Plastic.

Recycled Plastic Consumer Lifestyle Product Award covers domestic products, sports and leisure goods, electronic products, fashion accessories, medical and pharmaceutical devices. Product designers and design engineers working at consultancies, processors and end-use companies are eligible to apply for the award. Applicants of this category of award are required to submit a product, model, or prototype.

The Technology Innovation in Plastics Recycling Award recognizes companies that employ innovative technologies that have led to significant benefits in areas such as production efficiency, quality standards, product performance or profitability. Recycled Plastic Packaging Product covers products for consumer packaging. The Plastics Recycling Ambassador Award will be presented to the most inspirational individual for making outstanding contribution to the European Plastics Industry. The Building & Construction Product Award recognizes products used in construction that possess exemplary sustainability and durability features. The products could include a wide range of items including flooring, piping, window frames, insulation, roofing, doors, wall coverings etc.
