DENVER (Scrap Monster) : The new Colorado law on electronics recycling passed last year is to come into effect this July 1st, thereby making it illegal to throw away electronic items in trash.
The new law is expected to protect environment and at the same time create handful of job opportunities. The officials state that residents might feel difficulty at initial stages, but expressed confidence that the public will embrace the initiative for a healthy environment. The necessary facilities to collect e-waste will be launched in rural areas too. The authorities hope that the new program would be even more successful than the city’s purple recycling program.
The city has proposed to conduct a series of electronic waste recycling events to generate awareness among the general public. The state presently has a good number of retailers who recycle electronic waste such as discarded televisions, computers, monitors and DVD players. There are many locations across the city where the residents can dispose their unused electronic devices.
