CPIA seeks nominations for Plastics Industry Leadership Awards 2017

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Canadian Plastic Industry Association (CPIA) has announced that nominations to its Plastics Industry Leadership Awards 2017 are now open. The deadline for nominations is July 21, 2017. The winners of the award will be notified in August 2017. The award winners will be honored at the CPIA Awards Dinner Tuesday, Sept 19, 2017. The awards in various categories recognize individuals and companies for their outstanding commitment and dedication to the success of the plastics industry.

Individuals or companies can either self-nominate or can be nominated by others. A separate form must be filled out for each award or nominee. The form must provide the most relevant and detailed information to demonstrate why the individual or company deserves to win the award. All nominations will be reviewed by an external awards committee and voted to determine winners in each category based on evaluation of merits and demerits of nominations.

CPIA Plastics Industry Leadership Awards 2017 will be awarded in six different categories. A new award category named Plastic Industry Young Leaders Award has been introduced this year. The award will also be given in other five categories- Leader of the Year Award, Canplast Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Innovator Award and Sustainability Award.

Leader of the Year Award recognizes individuals who make important contributions to their businesses, to their communities and to the Canadian plastics industry. Individuals nominated for this award category must currently own or manage successful and innovative businesses in the plastics industry.

Canplast Award recognizes teamwork or leadership of individuals for their contributions to improve the competitive and environmental performance of the Canadian plastics industry. The ideal nominees must be active volunteers in association and industry committees, boards and task groups.

Lifetime Achievement Award honors individuals for their outstanding achievements and contribution of enduring legacies to the Canadian Plastics Industry and to the community. Nominees can be widely recognized veteran industry leaders and builders who are nearing the end of an illustrious career.

Innovator Award is presented to individuals or organizations for their contributions in the areas of materials, products, process/technology, or marketing/communications. Nominees may be from industry, academia, government or non-profit organizations.

Sustainability Award recognizes individuals or organizations for their contributions to the sustainability of Canadian plastics industry. Applicants to the award may be recyclers, brand owners manufacturing consumer, commercial, industrial and institutional products, retailers manufacturing their own branded products or plastic companies manufacturing plastic products or plastic packaging.

The newly introduced Plastic Industry Young Leaders Award is in recognition of inspirational and dedicated young leaders under the age of 40 who demonstrates leadership in plastics businesses, innovations or sustainability efforts.

The Canadian Plastics Industry Association is the national voice of the plastics industry in Canada, representing the interests of processors, material suppliers, equipment manufacturers and brand owners across Canada since 1943.
