ABU DHABI (Scrap Monster): Dubai, UAE-based Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (EMPOWER) has achieved big milestone by recycling nearly 11 tons of paper at its offices and plants. The company had launched the paper recycling program in May 2011. According to company management, the paper recycling program exhibits its commitment towards environment sustainability and best practices.

As part of the program, all shredded paper documents from its various offices and plants were sold to outside scrap paper collectors. The income generated by these sales was used for social charity purposes. The company was indulged in a wide range of humanitarian activities including medical treatment, house reconstruction and donation of grocery items to the needy. Through successful implementation of the program, the company has set a model to other companies in addressing community welfare needs by preserving global environment.

According to EMPOWER, the 11 tons of recycled paper include shredded confidential documents, newspapers, card board boxes and mixed papers.

The company was established in 2003 with an objective to enable the real estate sector to efficiently utilize energy resources through District Cooling Services (DCS).  Empower was set up as a joint venture between Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and TECOM Investments a member of Dubai Holding through a Royal Decree issued by the Ruler of Dubai.
