Constellium to build new $32 million facility in Bartow County, Georgia

ATLANTA (Scrap Monster): Amsterdam-based Constellium N.V has announced construction of a new $32 million manufacturing facility in Bartow County, Georgia, aimed at tapping the potential of growing demand situation in the North American automotive market.

The press release issued by Constellium N.V says that the company will make $20 million investment towards the project. The balance $12 million will be invested by developer Seefried Properties. The construction of the plant is expected to commence by early-2016. The company expects production to start in 2017. The new plant is likely to generate nearly 150 manufacturing jobs in the region by 2019. The facility, initially planned in 84,000 square foot may be expanded up to 220,000 square foot in future.

The newly announced Greenfield manufacturing facility is part of company’s business plan to expand its footprints in the Southeast US region. The facility will help the company better serve its automotive customers by responding effectively to growing demand for aluminum structural parts by automobile industry. Constellium is also likely to benefit from the proximity of the plant to automobile manufacturers’ auto assembly units.

Eric Krepps, Vice President and General Manager of Constellium Automotive Structures North America expressed confidence that Georgia’s strong business climate and advanced technical education network will prove helpful in supply of skilled workforce for the new operations.
