China spearheads surging Asian crude steel production during April

According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (WSA), the crude steel production by Asia improved 4.7% during the month of April year-on-year.

BEIJING (Scrap Monster) : According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association (WSA), the crude steel production by Asia improved 4.7% during the month of  April year-on-year.

The total crude steel production by China during April was 65.650 Million tonnes, surging by 6.8% in comparison with the April 2012 production of 61.480 Million tonnes. India produced 6.620 Million tonnes of crude steel, higher by 3.5% when compared to 6.394 Million tonnes production achieved during April 2012. The Japanese steel output was up by 1% to 9.170 Million tonnes from 9.077 Million tonnes during same month last year.

South Korea and Taiwan reported decrease in crude steel output during April this year. The total crude steel production by South Korea dropped by 6.3% from 5.869 Million tonnes in April 2012 to 5.497 Million tonnes this April. Taiwan’s crude steel output fell 10.3% from 1.783 Million tonnes in April 2012 to 1.6 Million tonnes in the same month this year.
