China opposes EU probes against coated steel imports

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): China has raised strong opposition to EU's anti-dumping investigation against the imports of China-made organic coated steel, said the Ministry of Commerce . The government will pay high attention to the future development of this issue.

According to China Iron and Steel Association, China produced 5.54 million tons of organic coated steel in 2010, of which 3.05 million tons were for export. In the first 10 months of 2011, the country exported 4.56 million tons of organic coated steel, 49.5 percent more than the total amount for the previous year.

The China Iron and Steel Association is helping the steel companies that will be affected by the EU's investigation prepare for the approaching legal process.

Chinese companies have tried to seize their opportunities to develop high-quality products and sell them in the international market. Organic coated steel is mainly used in home appliances, construction materials, heating equipment and furniture.
