China Copper, Aluminium imports rise sharply Y-o-Y in March: GAC

China's Copper imports rose sharply by 51.9% year-on-year in March while its Aluminium imports advanced sharply by 37% year-on-year, according to the latest data released by China's General Administration of Customs (GAC).

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): China's Copper imports rose sharply by 51.9% year-on-year in March while its Aluminium imports advanced sharply by 37% year-on-year, according to the latest data released by China's General Administration of Customs (GAC).

According to China's GAC data, country's unwrought Copper and Copper products imports down by 4.6% month-on-month to 462182 metric tons in March while its unwrought Aluminium and Aluminium product imports dropped by 3.3% month-on-month to 120494 metric tons.


According to China's GAC data, country imported 484569 metric tons of unwrought Copper and Copper products in February this year and 304299 metric tons in March last year. China imported
124584 metric tons of unwrought Aluminium and Aluminium product in February this year and 87729 metric tons in March 2011

LME Copper that resumed trading after Easter holidays is trading on a monthly low of $ 8279 per ton. The prices were at $ 8340 per ton until last week. Limited April trading days has seen Copper coming down by 3% till 10 April 2012.

MCX Copper that was beaten down last night is observing some short covering. The benchmark April expiry contract is trading at Rs. 426 per kg, up Rs. 3 per kg. A cap of Rs. 430 is active in Copper futures while on downside it is a range of Rs. 418-415 per kg.
