BEIJING (SMM): China’s Ministry of Industry & Information Technology released on its website the first group of rare earth production quotas for 2015, with rare earth oxide (REO) mining quotas at 52,500 tonnes and REO smelting and separating quotas at 50,050 tonnes.
The first quotas last year were 46,900 tonnes and 45,250 tonnes, respectively.
SMM finds that 49,712 tonnes of REO mining quotas and 46,690 tonnes of smelting and separating quotas went to the six large rare earth groups- China Minmetals Corp., Aluminum Corp. of China (Chalco), China Northern Rare Earth Group High-Tech Co., Xiamen Tungsten Co., China Southern Rare Earth Group and Guangdong Rising Nonferrous Metal Co.
