Call2Recycle calls for increased battery recycling during Waste Reduction Week

TORONTO (Scrap Monster): In an effort to boost battery recycling collection, Call2Recycle has announced various efforts across the country during the Waste Reduction Week from October 19th to 25th. The Toronto-based national consumer battery recycling stewardship organization has also announced various rewards for Canadians who recycle maximum number of batteries during this period.

As part of its efforts in British Columbia, Call2Recycle has partnered with Science World B.C. Residents are being urged to bring used batteries and cell phones during this week to TELUS World of Science. The person who drops the maximum quantity will be declared as “B.C Waste Ace’ and will be rewarded with digital camera. There will be additional prizes too, noted Call2Recycle Canada.

In Manitoba, Call2Recycle has partnered with Winnipeg Public Libraries. The library which collects most used batteries and cell phones from members will be declared as the winner of the title “Winnipeg Waste Ace”. The winning library will be awarded a prize too. Libraries can also participate in A Display Contest by displaying educational and awareness materials on benefits of battery recycling.

Call2Recycle has partnered with Jour de la Terre in Quebec to celebrate the Waste Reduction Week. Quebec residents are required to complete a registration form at www.jourdelaterre.org and then drop their used batteries in the nearest Call2Recycle drop-off location. Residents stand a chance to win daily cash prize and a grand prize. The grand prize winner will be awarded the title “Quebec Waste Ace” and will be presented a digital camera.

In P.E Island, Call2Recycle has aligned with Stonepark Intermediate School in Charlottetown to collect used batteries and cell phones from residents. The winner will get a prize and the title of “P.E.I Waste Ace”.
