Brazil’s flat steel product exports surged in June

Brazil’s flat steel product exports surged in June

SAO PAULO (Scrap Monster): As per the statistics released by the Brazilian Ministry of Development and Trade, the country’s flat steel product exports surged higher during the month of June this year. The exports jumped higher by 78% when compared with those during the same month a year before. The total revenue from exports during June ’15 climbed higher by 41.75% over the previous year.

As per data, Brazil’s flat steel product exports during the month totaled 299,400 mt, 77.9% higher when compared with the exports of 168,300 mt recorded during June last year. The revenue from exports too increased from $120 million FOB during June ’14 to $170.1 million FOB in June this year.

The exports dropped slightly by 0.7% when compared with the previous month. Brazil had exported 301,400 mt of flat steel products in May this year. The export revenues witnessed 4.8% decline when matched with $178.7 million FOB in May ’15.

Meantime, the country’s exports of semi-finished steel surged higher by 67.2% year-on-year to 779,900 mt during June ’15. The exports had totaled only 466,400 mt during June last year. When matched with the previous month, the exports were up by 15.3% in June. Brazil had exported 676,200 mt of semi-finished steel during May this year.

The overall sales by Brazil jumped higher by 6.55% from $248.8 million FOB in June last year to $265.1 million FOB in June ’15. Month-on-month, the overall sales grew 6.5% from $248.9 million FOB in May this year.
