BIR Paper Division to explore impact of maritime rules on export shipment

BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster): The Paper Division of the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) will explore the impact of the international maritime safety treaty (SOLAS) on export shipments at the upcoming 2016 BIR World Recycling Convention in Berlin. The guest speakers who will address the delegates include John Paul Mackens, William P. Moore and Stefan Geibel. The conference will also hold a plenary session to focus on market conditions.

John Paul Mackens, business development manager for the European market for secondary raw materials at freight and logistics firm Küehne + Nagel will explore the details of SOLAS and its impact on export shipments. The presentation will be titled “SOLAS – No verified weight, no export shipment.”

William P. Moore, president of the United States-based consulting firm Moore & Associates, in his presentation titled “The state of North American paper recycling and its impact on the global market” will focus on the overall paper recycling market in the North American region.

Also, Stefan Geibel, managing director of Hamburg, Germany-based Veolia Umweltservice Wertstoffmanagement GmbH will hold a presentation titled “The evolution of the German recovered paper market over the last years - from net exporter to net importer.”

The plenary session will feature expert market reports from across the various world markets, which will help participants to obtain the prevailing trend around the world.

The BIR Convention will be held Sunday, 29 May 2016 to Wednesday, 1 June, 2016 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Berlin.
