BRUSSELS (Scrap Monster) : The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) has formed a electronics scrap committee as part of Non-Ferrous Metals Division, which will make its debut at the Shanghai Spring Convention scheduled to be held in May.

The activities of the committee would be kick started with a workshop scheduled to start at 16.30 on Monday May 27.

BIR intends to keep its members updated about the varieties of electronic scrap, intricacies and complexities involved in recycling electronic scrap and the wide range of regulations involved in recycling such materials. The main goal of the committee is to specialize on the above subject matters and keep itself aware and updated about the newer challenges and the latest methodologies adopted by the industry in order to face those challenges.

The BIR World Recycling Convention and Exhibition is scheduled to be held from 26th to 29th May, 2013 at the Pudong Shangri-La Hotel, Shanghai in the People’s Republic of China. This is the second time that China is hosting the BIR International convention, after the highly successful first BIR Convention held in Beijing in 2006. The event promises to be a meeting place of industrialists and experts from the recycling industry across the globe.

According to sources, BIR will soon announce the name of the person heading the committee and the details of topics that will be covered during the workshop. The workshop on Electrical and Electronic Waste will commence at 16.30 hrs immediately following the plenary session at 14.30 hrs by the Non-Ferrous Metal Division.

The 2013 World Recycling Convention and Exhibition is co-hosted by CNIA, co-organized by CMRA and supported by Chinese member associations of BIR.
