Asia's crude steel production posts 1.3% dip in March

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by Asia dropped marginally by 1.3% during the month of March 2015 year-on-year.

The total crude steel production by China during March was 69.485 Million tonnes, edging lower by 1.2% when compared with the production of 70.329 Mt during March 2014. India produced 7.950 Million tonnes of crude steel, considerably up by 10% when compared to 7.228 Million tonnes production achieved during March last year.

Japan reported decline in monthly crude steel output during March. Japan's crude steel output dropped from 9.721 Million tonnes in March 2014 to 9.286 Million tonnes in the same month this year.

South Korean crude steel production declined considerably by 11.8% from 6.406 Million tonnes in March 2014 to 5.650 Million tonnes in March this year.

The Taiwanese March steel output edged higher by 3.9% to 1.965 Million tonnes from 1.891 Million tonnes during same month last year.

The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first three months in 2015 in comparison with those during same period in 2014.
