Asian crude steel production in June '14 fell 2.1% over the month

Asian crude steel production in June '14 fell 2.1% over the month

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): According to the latest statistics released by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by Asian countries declined 2.1% during the month of June ’14 month-on-month.

The total crude steel production by China during May was 69.294 Million tonnes, slightly lower by 1.62% in comparison with the previous month production of 70.432 Million tonnes. India produced 6.732 Million tonnes of crude steel, down 3.04% when compared to 6.943 Million tonnes production achieved during May ‘14.

Japan too reported fall in monthly crude steel output during the month of June. Japan's crude steel output fell sharply by 4.89% from 9.590 Million tonnes a month ago to 9.121 Million tonnes in June ‘14.

South Korean crude steel production was down marginally by 1.91% during June from 6.166 Million tonnes during the previous month to 6.048 Million tonnes in June this year.

The Taiwanese June steel output declined by 3.17% to 1.830 Million tonnes from 1.890 Million tonnes during a month before.

The cumulative crude steel output during the initial six months in 2014 of various countries( in thousand tonnes) in the region are as follows:- China (411,909), India (41,280), Japan (55,225), South Korea (36,082) and Taiwan (11,003).
