MOSCOW (Scrap Monster): A mining company based in Rosatom, is soon to start the production of both lead and zinc, in the southern region of Novaya Zemlya, a place which would be better known if explained as the place where the Soviet Union activated seven underground nuclear explosions.

Novaya Zelmya, located in the Russian Arctic could be possibly designated as one of the largest closed down places in the world. The archipelago, which is almost 900 kilometers long, has been controlled by the armed forces since 1945, and not civilians were permitted to enter, neither was any civilian companies allowed to expand their business in the area or to explore the area.

Until now, no permission was given for any company to mine, or to process lead and zinc in the area. But the media reports from the area states that, Pervaya Gornorudnaya Kompanya, was given the permission to expand and develop the zinc and lead deposits in the Pavlovsk deposit located in the southern part of Novaya Zemlya.

According to the sources, who deals with the matter, the above mentioned company is known to be the wholly owned subsidiary of AtomRedMetZoloto (ARMZ), the one and only Russian company, which mines Uranium.AtomRedMetZoloto, is completely owned by Atomenergoprom, another branch of Rosatom, which unites the Russian civilian nuclear industry.
