Argentina's Crude Steel production drops 7.5% y-o-y in Jan-Sep

BUENOS AIRES (Scrap Monster): Argentina's crude steel production declined sharply by 16.2% year-on-year to 396,100 metric tons (mt) in September this year and rose 4.3% month-on-month, as per the latest data released by Argentina's chamber of steel.

According to the data, in the first nine months of this year, Argentina's crude steel production totaled 3.85 million mt, declined 7.5% year-on-year.

Meanwhile, in September Argentina's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 401,200 mt, up slightly by 0.2% month-on-month and down 9.5% compared to September 2011.

Of this total, the hot rolled flat steel product output was 192,800 mt, up 13.8% month-on-month, while the long steel product output totaled 208,300 mt, decreasied by 9.9% month-on-month.

The country's cold rolled flat steel product output in September fell by 19.7% month-on-month to 98,700 mt, up 3.6% year-on-year.
