AISI's General Meeting in May to focus on future of North American steel manufacturing

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) will hold its 123^rd Annual General Meeting on May 1^st to 5^th in Chicago, Illinois. Hosted jointly with the Metal Service Center Institute (MSCI), the meeting will provide an opportunity for steel producers, suppliers and service centers to share ideas and work together towards promoting the competitiveness of North American steel sector.

Former Massachusetts governor and presidential candidate Mitt Romney will be one of the featured speakers at the gathering. Apart from that, Sir John Scarlett, former chief of the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) will offer a personal look at the state of the world today and the geopolitical issues around the globe. Also, General Stanley McChrystal, former commander, U.S. Forces in Afghanistan will share lessons based on leading and innovating one of the world’s largest organizations, and share insight on key leadership principals of transparency and inclusion, leveraging in the power of teams through relationships and leading by influence.

Chad Moutray, chief economist for the National Association of Manufacturers, will discuss how the economy will shape up in the coming months and if the second half of 2015 will offer more opportunities or challenges. Energy policy expert Karen Alderman Harbert, president and CEO of the Institute for 21st Century Energy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, will present on the importance of a comprehensive energy policy.

The general sessions will begin Monday morning, May 5. AISI is also expected to host a press briefing on May 5^th 11.45 (MST).
